Cox Surges in Trans Am Standings After Tailem Bend Podium
September 17, 2025

Jordan Cox has reclaimed third in the championship in Trico Trans Am following another podium in his Schaeffler Mustang, across a busy weekend at The Bend Motorsport Park.
Along with round six of the Trans Am season, the crew were kept busy with the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour where Cox returned to the wheel of the Peugeot P51 308 TCR.
It was a four car attack on the Trans Am Series this weekend, James Golding busy with Supercars duties and stand-in Elliott Cleary nursing an injury sustained last round. After a challenging qualifying session James Moffat started the opening race from eighth on the grid, ahead of Cox in 10th, Lachlan Evennett in 13th and Tom Davies in 15th.
Davies stole the show in Race 1 of the weekend, storming forward 11 places to finish fourth and take his best finish since the season opener in Tasmania. Evennett also climbed the order with a seven-place gain to sixth on the road. Moffat was pitched into a retirement following three-way contact which also affected Cox, who was able to recover to seventh.
Moffat set up a recovery drive in Race 2 to finish 10th from the back of the grid, while Cox made his way through to fourth place. Evennett and Davies both ran into issues in a wild race, finishing 12th and 14th respectively.
Race 3 saw Cox expertly cut his way on to the podium, picking up his third appearance on the rostrum for 2025 with a second-place finish. Evennett recovered to fifth, just ahead of another storming drive from Moffat in seventh. Davies had been locked in battle with Moffat, before getting caught out by oil on the road which left him 20th at the finish.
Over in the unbelievably competitive TCR field, it was a case of consistent improvements across the weekend. While Cox and the P51 hadn’t seen a competitive TCR outing since Bathurst in 2024, the world’s best TCR drivers had descended on Tailem Bend with maximum laps under their belt.
After Qualifying 17th in a weekend which had seen two practices reduced to one due to shipping delays for the internationals, Cox moved forward one place in Race 1 to finish 16th. Race 2 saw more positive momentum, with the crew tuning up Cox’s Peugeot and producing a 14th place finish. Unfortunately, there was no third race this weekend, again as a result of the rejigged schedule.
In the Trans Am standings Cox has reclaimed third, while Golding still sits fourth despite missing two rounds and Moffat makes it three GRM cars inside the top five. The trio are separated by 36 points with two rounds remaining.
Davies and Evennett are also locked in an intra-team battle in 11th and 12th, sitting level on points.
The final two rounds of the Trico Trans Am Series take place in back-to-back fashion with the Mallala Homecoming from November 21-22 before we join the Adelaide Grand Final from November 27-30.
