Elliott Cleary to Super Sub for Golding in Trans Am

Elliott Cleary will join Garry Rogers Motorsport in the Trico Trans Am Series as he fills in for James Golding in the CTE Custom Transport Equipment Ford Mustang.

The next round of the series takes place at the betr Darwin Triple Crown as a support category to the Supercars Championship. The series also joins Supercars in Tailem Bend and Adelaide for rounds three and seven later this year.

With Golding one of the full-time stars of Supercars, Cleary has been drafted in as a super sub for Darwin and Tailem Bend.

Making for a seamless transition is the fact both drivers have carried the same primary backing in their respective 2025 campaigns, with Cleary also sporting CTE sponsorship in the Super2 Series.

Cleary has taken five podium finishes over his Trans Am career to date, and finished the 2024 series in seventh place despite missing the final two races of the year. The young gun will step into race-winning machinery in Darwin, with Golding recording pole position and victory in his most recent Trans Am start in Bathurst.

The duo tested together recently at Winton Raceway, while Cleary also logged pre-season laps in the Golding entry at Symmons Plains Raceway.

Round three of the Trico Trans Am Series takes place from June 20-22 as part of the betr Darwin Triple Crown.

Quotes
Elliott Cleary

“It’s really great to be back in Trans Am, the field keeps getting bigger and better. I’m excited to be taking on a new track, Darwin is a very good place for racing so there should be plenty of side-by-side action.

“It’s cool to be working with Jimmy Golding and the whole GRM crew. They have a heap of experience and a lot of success which will allow me to hit the ground running.

“Hopping from the Super2 to the Trans Am isn’t unfamiliar for me after doing it last year. Fortunately, a lot of the markers are the same between the two so it’s not a huge adjustment.

“The goal is to be right at the front, there’s nothing to play for in terms of points for us so we’ll race hard and see what we can do.
