Bathurst In the Rear View, Adelaide Awaits in Trans Am
November 13, 2024
From one championship decider to another, it’s a huge couple of weeks for our crew with the season wrapping up this weekend at the Adelaide 500!
We put a full stop on the 2024 Supercheap Auto TCR Australia season just a few days ago, in a weekend which delivered another victory for our Peugeot P51 308 TCR!
It was a typically wild weekend of TCR action, with consistent performances in Race 1 setting us up strongly for the reverse grid second race of the weekend. Ben Bargwanna and Jordan cox fired off the line extremely well and got a little close for comfort as they dualled for the race lead through turn two.
Cox took the lead and didn’t look back, as he stormed away to win his second race in as many rounds aboard our new Peugeot! Ryan Casha put up an epic fight for the podium places, ultimately finishing in fourth. After running in second early on, Bargwanna’s race was cut short when he started dropping oil.
The weekend ended with another strong fourth place result for Casha in the Valvoline Peugeot, while Bargwanna and Cox finished up in eighth and 11th.
Unfortunately Aaron Cameron was forced to sit out the three races, after a power steering failure in qualifying.
In the final standings, Cox finishes highest of the GRM squad in fifth overall. Casha was just two points further back in an impressive sixth at the end of his rookie season, with Bargwanna in seventh. Cameron finishes up 10th after an unbelievable run of bad luck hampered his strong speed all season.
This weekend our attention turns to the Trans Am finale, and the crew are carrying some good form into the weekend!
In Bathurst, James Golding swept the weekend while James Moffat bagged a pair of podiums to close the gap to the series lead. Moffat sits in second and trails the series leader by just 24 points with three races and 180 points still up for grabs in 2024.
Brett Holdsworth will be one of just three drivers in the field who were on the grid for Trans Am’s only previous visit to Adelaide, which came in the series’ first ever event in 2020.
For Edan Thornburrow and Tom Davies, it will be their first time taking on the fearsome Adelaide Street Circuit!
The action kicks off with practice on Thursday at 10:40am. A busy Friday sees us on track three times, before a two races across Saturday and Sunday to finish off the year.
