Queensland Raceway Preview

We’re back in action this weekend with the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series and the Trico Trans Am Series descending on Queensland Raceway for round five of the season.

In TCR, the weight is off (literally) for Ben Bargwanna who was carrying a hefty success ballast at The Bend, and the early series leader will be eager to reclaim his spot at the top. Unfortunately for Jordan Cox, he cops 30kgs for his efforts at The Bend which propelled him to fourth in the points. Ryan Casha will have 20kgs onboard, while Aaron Cameron will be operating as normal after copping another round of bad luck last time out.

Bargwanna enters the weekend third in the points and just 31 points back, with Cox for close company just five points further back. Casha is in the title conversation as well in his rookie year, sitting fifth and 48 points away from the top.

Last year at Queensland Raceway we scored two podiums with Cameron charging to second place in races two and three, while Cox also scored a pair of top five finishes on the weekend.

All eyes are on the title fight in Trans Am as well, where James Moffat leads James Golding by 41 points in the Valvoline Mustang. Edan Thornburrow and Tom Davies will both be looking to crack into the top 10 after this weekend.

Brett Holdsworth joins the team in place of Tim Slade, coming at an opportune time as Queensland Raceway was the scene for one of Holdsworth’s multiple podium finishes in 2023.

While we didn’t score any victories at Queensland Raceway last year, it was a GRM sweep 12 months prior when Nathan Herne took pole and drove away to win all three races. Form is on our side more recently as well, with Moffat winning a race at The Bend and securing another round podium.

The four race format returns for Trans Am this weekend, so there’s plenty of action to look forward to!

We hit the track from August 2-4 as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries, with all the racing live and free on 7plus!
