Bathurst Plays Host to Final TCR and Trans Am Round

Bathurst is upon us, and the season is just a few days from drawing to a close in Supercheap Auto TCR Australia and Trans Am.

Aaron Cameron is our best placed driver in the TCR title race, entering the final three races just 38 points adrift. The Valvoline driver has good form at Bathurst to lean on, with three races wins and eight podiums in TCR at Mount Panorama.

Jordan Cox is 110 points back and is still mathematically in contention aboard the Schaeffler backed Peugeot. Cox has won two TCR races in Bathurst and can also rely on his tendency for outrageous overtakes across the top.

Ben Bargwanna has two runner-up finishes at the Mountain in TCR, and will no doubt be looking to go one better this weekend. Look out for the Burson Auto Parts driver in qualifying as well, after he stunned the internationals last time out in Sydney.

Teddy Clairet returns to the team this weekend, taking over from his brother Jimmy who notched up a great maiden Australia weekend in Sydney last week in the Hangcha Forklifts Peugeot. Teddy contested the Bathurst International for GRM last year, finishing eighth and seventh, which will be a great springboard for his efforts this year.

Over in Trans Am it’s a welcome return to Bathurst, where GRM took victory in all six races last year courtesy of Nathan Herne.

James Moffat will steer that same Valvoline chassis across the Mountain this weekend, in his first Trans Am appearance at Bathurst. Though Moffat is certainly no stranger to V8’s in Bathurst. Moffat leads the Championship by 78 points.

Lochie Dalton comes into the weekend second in the points, and with a good history in his AWC Trans Am at Bathurst. Dalton finished an equal season best third in race two of the Bathurst International in 2022 and will look to pick up where he left off.

Edan Thornburrow is still hunting that elusive maiden victory in his Sydney Property Care entry, but Bathurst may be his best shot yet. Thornburrow has been in strong form of late, finishing fourth in the final race at SMP. Thornburrow has good form in Bathurst as well, with a string of top fives across the last couple of years.

The Supercheap Auto Bathurst International takes place from November 10-12. The action will be live on Saturday and Sunday on Stan Sport, with 9Gem/9Go live and free from 2-5pm AEDT on Saturday.
