DRIVERS SET FOR FIRST GRM COMBINE IN TASMANIA

Six young drivers will further their development towards careers in professional motorsport this week when they participate in the inaugural GRM Combine – Driven by Marcos Ambrose.

Held across Tasmania’s Symmons Plains and Baskerville circuits over five days, the Combine will provide drivers the opportunity to experience a variety of high-level racecars run by Garry Rogers Motorsport.

Participants will receive extensive briefing and coaching throughout the Combine from professional racing drivers led by GRM Competition Director, Marcos Ambrose.

GRM TCR drivers James Moffat and Dylan O’Keeffe and S5000 front-runner James Golding will be actively involved in the Combine as driver coaches.

The Combine participants represent a cross-section of national and state level competition.

Formula Ford racer Winston Smith, Victorian Hyundai Excel drivers Harry Tomkins and Mason Kelly, and Tasmanian up-and-comer Campbell Logan will gain extensive track time in GRM’s cars as raced in the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series and the Turtle Wax Trans Am Series.

Relative to their counterparts in the program, Trans Am runner-up Edan Thornburrow and leading Aussie Racing Cars driver Kody Garland are two of the more experienced participants looking to evolve their motorsport skill sets.

The final day of track running will see Combine participants sample the high-powered Rogers AF/01 V8 S5000, with the benefit of preliminary running in a Mygale Formula Ford.

The Combine is the brainchild of two-time Australian Touring Car Champion and NASCAR Cup Series race winner Ambrose, who witnessed similar programs in the USA during his nine-year stint in elite level stock car racing.
