Thornburrow Returns to Trans Am in Adelaide with GRM
November 24, 2025

2021 Trans Am runner-up Edan Thornburrow will return to the series for this weekend’s finale, aboard the car vacated by James Golding at Garry Rogers Motorsport.
Golding has run a partial campaign this year, stepping aside for the three rounds in which Trans Am have raced on the undercard for the Supercars Championship. Elliot Cleary filled in for Darwin and Tailem Bend, with Thornburrow making a cameo return for the bp Adelaide Grand Final round.
Thornburrow raced for GRM in 2023 and 2024, finishing 12th and eighth in the standings, and claiming four podiums, before departing this year to make starts in the first three rounds of the American TA2 Series. A budget shortfall has kept Thornburrow on the sidelines since, with Adelaide an opportunity to rekindle his love for a category in which he was one of the most capped drivers prior to the season.
Curiously Thornburrow’s return will come in the very same chassis he made his Trans Am debut with in 2021, after GRM refreshed the chassis prior to the 2025 season for Golding.
“I’m so excited to get back in the 31 car with GRM this weekend in Adelaide,” said Thornburrow.
“It’s one of the best circuits on the calendar and we went well there last year. It’s the same car that I made my debut in the series 5 years ago so to also be back in it is something I’m looking forward too.”
“Earlier this year I went to America to race the TA2 car there and got to drive some pretty cool tracks such as Sebring, Road Atlanta and Lime Rock. It has though been a while since I’ve been in the car last. It was in May where we came back from Lime Rock which has been a massive break from then till now.
“This weekend for me is about getting back with the boys and girls at GRM and having fun. This will also be my first round with GRM since Garry’s passing and so we will be racing for him at Adelaide.”
Thornburrow will line up alongside James Moffat, Tom Davies, Lachlan Evennett and Jordan Cox for GRM.
Remarkably, Golding is third in the points despite missing two of the six rounds thus far, with Moffat and Cox locked in battle to overhaul the gap in Adelaide.
