We’re Hiring – Motorsport Composite Technician

Garry Rogers Motorsport (GRM) is seeking a skilled Composite Technician to manage the composite department of our team. As a Composite Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful fabrication and repair of composite components used in our vehicles. The ideal candidate will have experience with mold making, resin infusion techniques, repairs and a broad knowledge of all composite fabrics, resin systems and adhesives.

 

GRM is a renowned Australian motorsport team with a long-standing reputation for success in the industry. Founded by Garry Rogers in 1963, the team has a rich history of competing in various motorsport categories and are currently involved in the Touring Car Racing (TCR), TransAm and S5000 championships. The team also completes design and manufacturing projects including delivering 18 S5000 vehicles in 2019 and becoming the homologation team for the new Peugeot 308 TCR model with a key focus being in house or Australian made components. GRM is headquartered in Dandenong South, Melbourne, Australia and prides itself on its passion for motorsport and its focus on developing young talent both in and out of the driver’s seat.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the composite department
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for composite fabrication and repair
  • Collaborate with engineers and mechanics to ensure composite parts meet all requirements
  • Fabricate and repair composite parts using a variety of techniques including mold making and resin infusion
  • Work with a variety of composite fabrics, resin systems and adhesives
  • Perform quality control inspections to ensure composite parts meet quality standards
  • Manage inventory of composite materials and supplies
  • Train and mentor other technicians on composite fabrication and repair techniques
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience in composite fabrication and repair
  • Practical knowledge of mold making and resin infusion techniques
  • Proficient in the use and selection of composite fabrics, resins and adhesives
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
